I have another treat for you today! I am giving away two (yes, two) copies of Diane Eblin’s E-Book, The Gluten-Free Diner. There is also a fun way to earn your entries (more about that at the end of this post)!
Diane (author of The WHOLE Gang, and her new daily journal, Change My Life Journal), is the kind of lady you just cannot get enough of. She is: Feisty. Zesty. Sassy. She has the most outlandish and goofy personality. She reminds me of me, my sister, my aunt, and my Mom all rolled in to one.
She is also a total leader. After all, she somehow managed to convince an entire gaggle of allergy-friendly bloggers to follow her (or rather, chase her) through the streets of Seattle and San Francisco without even a question as to where she may be leading us.
I still laugh at myself when I remember our trip to BlogHer Food ’10 in San Francisco – the town in which I was born AND raised (and assumingly very familiar with)- and how I was just as eager to follow Diane anywhere as everyone else was. For some reason, I was sure that this East Coast gal could get us where we needed to go far more efficiently than this San Fran native ever could.
And, technically, I should know those SF streets up and down after living there for nineteen years. But as a few of my blogger pals like to recall and tease me about (ahem, Glugle Gluten Free, Alisa Cooks, and Celiacs in the House), I should have been taking better direction and lead from Diane. Maybe then we would not have ended up lost in a dark ally late at night.
But wait! This post is not really about Diane (or about my total lack of directional awareness). It is about her awesome E-Book, The Gluten-Free Diner.
This E-Book is packed with 48 different Diner inspired recipes that will satisfy that longing you have been having for all of your favorite comfort foods since you went Gluten and/or Dairy Free. You will find ideas here that will inspire hundreds of meal combinations. She has also added this awesome blue box that allows you to keep your own notes about what you liked, did not like, would have added, would have left out, etc.
I have had so much fun cooking through this book.
So far, I have made from the Diner Menu:
Bacon-Wrapped Avocados – Holy moly. Rich, naughty, and unbelievable! My kids ate these as fast as I was taking them out of the pan and they were cool enough to touch their tongues. This combination married two of their favorite ingredients. And really? How can you go wrong with avocado slices wrapped in bacon? I tried to get a photo of these, but the sad-looking ones that I was left with after my children inhaled them were anything BUT photo-worthy.
Sesame Ginger Wings – Sticky. Sweet. Finger-licking delicious. Literally. All three of my boys (and myself) were licking each finger to make sure we did not miss any of that sticky sauce. I bought what I thought would be more than enough wings to feed all of us. But, I ended up sacrificing some of my pile to feed the hungry boys in my house since these were such a hit (alas, they could use the calories far more than I can, so, in reality, they were just helping me with my diet).
Pesto Chicken Salad – Six thumbs up on this one! The other sets of thumbs come from Shirley (of GFE-gluten free easily) and her husband. As you may recall from this previous post, they made a little visit to the Cook It Allergy Free house on their way back to Virginia after an insane road trip to Arizona. I had the pleasure of serving this Salad to them for lunch! It was delicious and devoured. Shirley was quick enough to take a photo, so….I am borrowing hers to share with you here:
Roasted Tomato and Basil Soup – So very good. And so perfect for these off-and-on frigid days we have been having here. The boys loved dipping Elana’s Pantry’s Biscuits in it and I loved eating it cold, as leftovers, straight from the fridge. Although, I did get a huge craving for an ooey gooey grilled cheese sandwich while I was eating it.
So far, everything has been a total home-run here in the CIAF house! And, if I have succeeded in making you completely curious and totally hungry, you now will have your chance to win a copy of this E-Book for yourself.
Now for the fun way to win a copy:
I was recently bestowed an award from Shirley, my GFE-gluten free easily friend. The Memetastic Award. This award is a lot of fun. The awardees must tell 5 things about themselves, with 4 out of 5 being outright lies. Our readers have to guess which one of the 5 is TRUE! The awardees must also pass the award on to five others….which I am not going to do because ALL of the people I would pass it on to have already received this ever-so honorable award 😉
So here goes – can you guess which is true?
1. My house is always a complete and total disaster.
2. I have a wake-boarding boat that is so big it will not even fit in our over-sized garage.
3. I know how to surf pretty well and love to ride the waves with my husband.
4. I love my chocolate chip cookies hot and straight from the oven.
5. I have been to over 10 Jimmy Buffett Concerts in the last seventeen years.
So here are the ways to earn three entries into this giveaway (leave a comment for each one you do so that they count for additional entries):
** Guess which ONE of the 5 facts above is true about me.
** Follow Me – Cook It Allergy Free on Facebook
** Follow The WHOLE Gang on Facebook
Okay….Get Ready, Get Set, Guess!!!!!!
I’m going to guess that #4 is true. Only because it involves cookies. 🙂
Oh, and I “LIKE” you on facebook (and real life, but that doesn’t count)
I also “LIKE” Dianne on FB as well…so much love going around. 😉
I’m going to guess that the one that is true is that you love your chocolate chip cookies hot and straight from the oven. (I can’t resist eating them hot from the oven)
I’m thinking number one. Just because most people who have fantastic food and lives usually have a messy house.
i’M GONNA GO WITH #5.
Thank you Kim for the kind words. Glad I was a help in San Fran too. If you head to my neck of the woods I promise to let you lead.
I guess #4 ! 😉

One? Only one? I think they’re all true. Even the house that is a total disaster. I only say that because you’re too busy to have a clean house. =)
Okay, I need to get my act together and get Diane’s e-book. Every one of those recipes and sound look delicious. Even the avocado bacon wraps that aren’t shown. My imagination is good enough to conjure up a good look at them.
I already “like” all of you girls and will “follow” Diane anywhere after watching her navigate the streets of Seattle (were we really in Seattle? not Porland?).
Great post!
Peace, love and bacon wraps.
Melissa
Oops, the trick is to proofread before pushing the send button!
“Every one of those recipes looks and sounds delicious.”
When will I ever learn? The irony is — I’m in the midst of writing a post on brain function and I can’t even get mine to think and type at the same time. =)
xo
I’m going to guess number 4 – plus warm cookies sound tasty right about now. (says the girl who had a chocolate cupcake for breakfast because I was too busy doing dishes and laundry to make an egg)
I follow you on facebook.
I also follow Diane on Facebook. All the recipes you mentioned and posted photos of look and sound awesome, especially the bacon wrapped avocados and the tomato soup. Bryan would be one happy man if I made those.
Going with #5, as I think you like your cookies right out of the deep freeze.
I would guess #4 because, well, who *doesn’t* like chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven? Isn’t that kinda built into our DNA?

# 3 I think you are a surfer.
I know they are alllllllllllllllllllllll true!
I’m going to go with #5: Jimmy Buffett. My “inlaws” did a roadtrip down to California last year (from Canada) and saw the guy. He’s still kickin’ & rockin it out apparently!
I’ve “liked” The Whole Gang on FB & I’m psyched to see what they’ve got goin on!
And of course I not only “Like” you on FB, I Love you!
Keep up the good work!
okay if only one evevyone will say 4 but I”ll take 3
I am going to guess #2. I think I remember reading in one of your posts that you can’t resist a frozen cookie…….. and I really don’t know about the others!
Don’t enter me in the contest, since I have the cookbook. On my list of ones to review. But, I have to guess. Well, there is one on there that I KNOW is an absolute, flat out, bold-faced, big ol’ fat lie. And, you know, which one I know is a lie. You know? But that’s it. I’m not sure about any of the other four. I don’t know why, but something is telling me #2. I also don’t know what the something is that is telling me that. If it is wrong, I am telling that something to get out of my house. Hmmmmmmm. Can’t wait to find out.
I will say #5 🙂
What fun this silly award is for all of us! I was not nearly as clever as you guys are being though. I’m loving reading all the posts! I’m not entering because I have Diane’s wonderful cookbook, but I know which one is true. I’m not telling though as I don’t want to spoil it for the others. 😉
Thanks for bringing up our visit again … such dear memories! 🙂 LOVED Diane’s pesto chicken salad!
xoxo,
Shirley
Maybe #2? Only because it’s pretty specific, and all the others make sense. Who doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies right from the oven? And whose house isn’t a total disaster when no one’s looking? 🙂
I already follow Cook It Allergy Free. That should be worth extra entries, right? 😉
I’m the 882nd person to like The WHOLE Gang on Facebook. (Wow, that’s a lot of love!)
Oh god, these are so hard! I know #1 is a total LIE!! Sorry girly, you and messy do not go hand in hand.
I like being the odd one out, I’m going with #5. I waffled between that and @3.
I love Diane’s ebook and so want to make those wings!
I think you have “Buffet” written all over you. Have you tried to get a GF meal or two into his restaurant? He’d enjoy a new recipe while he drank a marguerita with you.
#3, after all, who doesn’t love surfing?
No need to enter me because I have Diane’s awesome cookbook, but I had to put my two cents in on what is an actual fact about you!
I know it’s not #1 because I;ve been in your house and it immaculate!
I know it’s not #2 because I’ve seen you boat in the garage. 😀
I’m going to say its a toss up between #3 and #4…but I’ll go with the cookies.
xoxo,
Heidi

I say #4.

I’m guessing #5, the Jimmy Buffet concerts?
And I’m following you and Diane on facebook already, love your recipes, I share them out to my customers (with credit to you of course!)
cheers Kris
I am going to guess #4….dont we all love chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven.
I am going to pick #5. I follow you and the whole gang on facebook. I would love to win! Thanks for the opportunity.
I am going with #2
Following you on FB.
I guess #3!
Have fun surfing!
There’s no way #1 is true. #4 is too easy, so you must like your cookies cold and hard (uh, no comment). So, that leaves you as a wake-boarder, a surfer or a parrothead. Hmmm… I’m going with the boat.
I am guessing it is #2. Don’t know why except no way # 1 is true, # 4 seems too easy and the rest…I don’t know. Anyway that’s my answer and I am sticking with it.
I follow you on Facebook!
I follow the Whole Gang on Facebook!
I think #5 is true. Although I’m really stumped. I hope I don’t have to be right to win the book!
I follow you on facebook!
I like the whole gang on facebook!
My guess is that you are a surfer bc it’s written modestly, whereas the other things are written slightly exaggerated 😉
I am going to guess that #2 is not right.
I’m guessing number 2.
I follow you on facebook :0)
#4 has got to be true!
I’m going to say #5 is true!
Utilizing the 5 sided die from my D&D days, I come up with #3.
